I first met Sung Kang, the actor who played Han in Tokyo Drift and later Fast & Furious films in 2015 when he debuted the FuguZ at GReddy Performance Products in Irvine. GTChannel had the opportunity to interview Sung at GReddy. The 240Z was his passion project with his friends and GReddy had collaborated with Sung to do the heavy lifting. But the FuguZ was not just a tuner car. The car was completely re-built from bottom up by the GReddy team. And Sung was there to help and hangout with the crew. He is the first to admit, it was the GReddy team and the collaborators that built that car. The RB26 swap 240Z ended up being shipped to the 2015 SEMA show. It basically was the talk of the show and even won best of show at the Sony Gran Turismo GT Awards. After Paul Walker's death, a Fast & Furious star with his own project car was a real positive note in the tuner world.

After the SEMA Show, the FuguZ did its rounds with the media like Jay Leno's Garage and finally made it home to Sung's garage at home. But Sung didn't just stop there. We invited him to our podcast, Podspeed by GTChannel a few weeks ago and caught up with him. We joke about the fact that Kenji Sumino, president of GReddy has created a monster because Sung is now a full blown car enthusiast. What started out as an excuse to hangout in his garage with his buddies has now taken on a life of its own. He is not only collecting cars but literally going to a shop every week to learn how to wrench. Just check out his Instagram page. It is ALL about cars. Absolutely zero Hollywood stuff.

But the best thing about him is that he is humble about all of his accomplishments. He won't even take credit for the FuguZ! He names cars he's bought after the original owners! He dedicates his car projects to others! His mindset is so refreshing in a world where getting attention means everything. It was never about gaining attention for Sung. It's about the journey, enjoying the journey, appreciation and learning at the same time.
