The car world has seen its share of highs and lows over the past year, but one thing is for certain; automotive events and showcases are roaring back to life this summer, and they’ve had enough time to prepare for a comeback like no other. Car enthusiasts across the country are certainly looking forward to Monterey Car Week. Car Week for those of you that don't know takes place in Northern California on the Monterey coast and brings together classic cars, concept cars, new debuts, racing history, and so much more. As its start date approaches, so do registration deadlines for the event lineup, so reserve your spot before tickets sell out!

In 2021 this year promises anniversary celebrations, racing honorees and everything in between. Kicking off on August 10th is the Concours on the Avenue, as Carmel-by-the-Sea's world-famous Ocean Avenue is closed to traffic and the famed downtown is filled with a mix of cars. On August 11th is McCall's Motorworks Revival which is celebrating 30 years of vintage race cars, state-of-the-art aircraft, the latest super cars, incredible gourmet food and the best of California’s wines.

The Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance Presented by Rolex takes place on the 12th of August, the free event features more than 150 Concours entrants seeking to prove they are roadworthy as they trace a scenic route on Highway One. The Tour begins in Pebble Beach, traces 17-Mile Drive, Highway One to Big Sur, and then returns to Pebble Beach to cross the Finish line. A car that successfully completes the Tour gets the nod if it later ties in class competition at the Concours.

One of our favorite highlights is The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering happening on the 13th. Now in its eighteenth year The Quail has provided an unparalleled and exclusive experience for motorsports enthusiasts and collectors to enjoy fine automobiles and motorcycles in a garden-party setting on the rolling greens of Quail Lodge & Golf Club.

Featured Themes for 2021 are Cars of Curiosity, Automotive Couture, French Cars Featuring the 50th Anniversary of the Citroën SM and the 50th Anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Montreal. The vehicle of the highest caliber is awarded the Rolex Best of Show to reflect the Swiss watch brand’s ongoing commitment to excellence in both design and production. The “Best of Show” is awarded an engraved Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41. Held in conjunction with The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, is the 23rd Annual Bonhams Motorcar Auction amidst the famous Carmel scenery.

The 14th of August is the perfect day to head to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the annual Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. This is a museum revving to life with hundreds of historic and period-correct race and sports cars from nearly every era. Yet, they are not for show since 1974 drivers have raced them in corresponding run groups in an attempt to tame the challenging iconic race track.

Lastly, while all good things must come to an end, the best way to finish Monterey Car Week is to spend Sunday the 15th at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the flagship of Monterey Car Week. It began in 1950 and is now considered to be the world’s premier celebration of the automobile, this is a can’t-miss event for every car enthusiast. Each year, the finest collector cars gather on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links to compete to be named Best of Show — the ultimate award for automobiles. In tandem with the competition between extraordinary historic automobiles, the Concours also serves as host to some of the most anticipated concepts and new car debuts.
