Razo DC5000A d'Action 360S Dash Cam

I already had a history crashing at FD Seattle in 2009, and to replay this in the same location this year was a bit daunting.  Although the crash was a big occurrence during this event and having a few other contact battles, there were still some great highlights. After some struggles in the opening rounds of the 2020 Formula Drift season, Dai and crew arrive in Seattle for rounds three and four — another double-header. Conditions are wet during the Thursday practice (no surprise), but the team has a successful session. Dai captures most of the action on a new 360-degree view camera from Razo/CarMate.

With a dry practice session in the forecast, Dai's crew gets to work setting up the car for dry conditions. That typically includes adjusting sway bar stiffness (stiffer for dry), tire pressures and shock settings.

Track conditions change quickly in the Rain Belt, keeping Dai and crew on their toes with adjustments. Dai gets a bye run through the Top 32 bracket into the Top 16 round, where he collides with his opponent, but his performance is still strong enough to move on to the next round.

Dai advances to the Top Four bracket in the third round of Formula Drift 2020. With dry track conditions and his LS V8-powered Subaru BRZ chassis, things look good for a podium finish against his Mustang and BMW competitors.

Despite disappointment from the day before, Dai and the team have a car that's set up well for this particular track. After taking a hit from his opponent in the Top 32 bracket, Dai brings the car back to the pits for repair and a wheel change. But trouble unfolds just seconds into his Top 16 battle with competitor Chris Forsberg, as Dai misjudges the initiation at the first turn.

Dai crashes hard in Top 16 battle vs Chris Forsberg. Luckily he  was not injured but the car is heavily damaged and will need some serious repair before next round Texas at the end of the month.
