Getting that distinctive off-throttle hiss from your turbocharged  Type R starts with the basics: removing the engine cover, battery and airbox. Have your 10mm socket handy.

Honda Civic Type R | Installing HKS Blow-Off Valve: The Basics

After the preliminaries, things get a little more involved. Vacuum hoses, pressure sensors, MAP sensor and factory charge pipe all come out. In its place, a new charge pipe supplied with the HKS kit. Pro tip: keep some Teflon tape and WD-40 handy.

Honda Civic Type R | Installing New HKS Charge Pipe

HKS supplies the bolts and brackets to assemble the blow-off valve support. Here you'll tighten up clamps, reattach vacuum lines and the MAP sensor. While you can almost do anything with a 10mm wrench and socket, you'll need a 13mm for the HKS-supplied fittings, and a 12mm to re-tighten some of the Honda factory bolts.

Honda Civic Type R | Installing New HKS Blow-Off Valve

To finish connecting the blow-off valve, you'll need to do a little cutting and joining of the engines vacuum lines. The HKS kit includes lines and joint pipes to make this part painless. When you're done, zip-tie your lines, replace the airbox, battery and valve cover and you're done.
