Westside Collector Car Storage has been a four-year journey for Farah. Westside Collector Car Storage is awash in details, befitting a premium car park/handling service. But if there's one thing that drives principal Matt Farah crazy, it's dangling power cables. So Farah invested thousands of dollars into tension reels to help hide power cables behind the parking rack pillars. Westside Collector Car Storage is All About Details

Matt Farah owns two legendary Italian chariots from the 1980s, a Countach and a 328 GTS. Both have different characters, and both don't really hit their strides until after about 20 minutes of driving. One benefit to the 328: it's easier to work on.

Japan's auto industry observers are saying that Nissan plans to dust off a compact sports car project. Although we wouldn't expect to see anything until 2025, the idea has people buzzing, especially given the interest stirred up by Nissan's recent IDx concept. A car arriving in the next four to five years will almost certainly be a partial hybrid, and the right execution could recall memories of Nissan's 1980s/90s heyday.

Podspeed's Sam Mitani shares news from Japan's auto industry observers, indicating that Nissan is considering reviving the rear-drive 240SX made popular in the 1990's. Farah reminds us that Toyota and Subaru had to join forces to build the FRS/84 and BRZ, respectively. More recently, Toyota and BMW needed to partner on their own rear-drive sports cars. Farah wonders whether Nissan has the capability — and stomach — to go it alone and build one itself.

Should Nissan Revive 240SX?

A projected revival of the Nissan Silvia would likely incorporate Nissan's "e-Power" system, where a small gas engine acts more like a generator, powering a hybrid battery pack rather than the wheels. This could allow the Silvia to be either a rear- or all-wheel-drive car. But James and Taro aren't sold. James thinks it would like a Sentra if it ever came to fruition and Taro reminds us that Nissan's heyday coincided with Japan's bubble economy, when money flowed freely enough for automakers to pursue wild projects.

James had some seat time in the new Toyota Rav4 Prime, the plug-in rechargeable hybrid version of the Rav4. With its 302 horsepower, it's very quick in a straight line, can travel up to 40 miles on electricity, and offers Lexus-like levels of comfort. A list price of $40,000 is a bit steep, but after $7,000 in tax credits, the price is a more reasonable $33,000. That is, if you can find one without a dealer markup; James says dealers are marking these cars up around $10,000, negating any tax credit savings and indeed, costing more than suggested retail.
