GT-R specialist Kozo Yoshida from Garage Yoshida started his career at a Nissan dealership. But when he found out that they don't actually repair and build engines at dealerships, he immediately quit. 
Garage Yoshida is in the hills of Nara prefecture an 8 hour drive from Tokyo. But clients like Autech, Mine's and Built by Legends send their cars from afar to get work done on their GT-Rs from full restorations to partial work like chassis and paint. 

In this renewed inaugural Season 4 episode of Tuner Club, we sit down with Yoshida-san to learn his roots and his passion towards the Nissan Skyline GT-R.

The R32 developed 206 kW at 6,800 rpm and 260 lb⋅ft of torque at 4,400 rpm, it had a curb weight of 1,430 kg (3,150 lb). Nissan officially started its production run 21 August 1989, and began its Group A campaign in 1990.

The power of Nissan's R32 GT-R

The GT-R NISMO GT3 is powered by the VR38DETT, a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that displaces 3,799 cc. It measures 80.15 inches in width, 188.19 inches in length, and has a wheelbase of 109.45 inches. Displacement: DOHC twin-turbocharged V6 front mid-engine 3,799 cc (3.8 L; 231.8 cu in).

What are some of the GT-R NISMO engine specs?

Autech (オーテック, Ōtekku) is a company focused on tuning and converting Nissan cars. It was founded in 1986 as a subsidiary of Nissan.

What is Autech?

After a 16-year hiatus with the Skyline GT-R, the GT-R name was revived in 1989 as the BNR32 ("R32") Skyline GT-R. This model GT-R proceeded to win the Japanese JTCC Group A series championship four years in a row.

The history behind the BNR32 name

An R33 held the production car lap record at the Nürburgring, the first car to crack the eight minute barrier. It wasn't some factory ringer, either: BestMotoring took a stab at recreating the lap and managed a very close 8:01.72. At the 1995 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a Nismo-fielded R33 finished in the top ten overall, beating Ferrari F40 LMs and McLaren F1 GTRs.

Let the legacy of the R33 set the records straight

Nissan tweaked and developed this GT-R over its short three-year lifespan. V-Spec cars added carbon fiber aerodynamic parts while N1 and V-Spec II reduced weight and added a more powerful turbo. M-Spec delivered a more luxurious trim and softer suspension for those who wanted a dose of comfort. Later Nürburgring Editions for the Japanese market even had speedometers that read up to 186 mph (300 kph) (motor1.com).

It racked up an incredible race record, with outright wins in Japan and Australia, and class wins at Spa and the Nürburgring. In fact, it was so successful in Australia that Aussies gave the car a name: Godzilla, the monster from Japan. (topgear.com).
